Lunch today was with Kelly & Danny at Digiacinto’s. I’ve eaten lunch and dinner here before but haven’t been lately. We sat back on the bar area.
There are lunch & dinner menus available. The lunch menu has a selection of sandwiches, salads & pasta dishes. I chose the Cheese Meatball Sub ($6.75) and added a link of Italian Sausage as a side ($2.25) so I could try it. My sandwich was I think two meatballs sliced up with melted cheese on top and some marinara sauce. It was a bit too much to try to eat as a sandwich so I broke out the knife & fork and attacked it that way. The knife & fork method worked pretty well except that the sub was served in a plastic tray of sorts with a wax paper lining and I had a hard time trying to not cut up the wax paper.
I thought the meatballs themselves were very good – they had a lighter than usual texture and the flavor was right on. The combination of the cheese, sauce & meatballs along with the tasty bread made this sandwich a winner. Digiacinto’s bakes their own bread & sandwich rolls. The sandwich came with one of those small bags of Lays regular potato chips – I didn’t eat them. It would have been nice if the sub came with a small dish of sauce.
I thought the Italian sausage link (served with more marinara) was good as well. It was tender and had a very good flavor – spicy enough to be interesting but not overpowering.
Our server was really great today – she kept on top of our drinks even after we paid our bill while we hung around talking.
Digiacinto’s is located at the end of an older strip center sort of across from the Westlake Hardware on South Campbell. When you first walk in – you can see into the kitchen across the counter. The décor is what I would call New York Italian – with lots of pictures of Frank Sinatra and his gang hanging on the walls. The tables & booths have your traditional white & red checkered tablecloths (under glass). The background music is primarily Sinatra as well adding to the New York feel. The booths are a bit tight for four people.
I’ve had other good meals here and will be back.

Next time try dining at D’Arpino’s on south National & Battlefield. Great Family, great food, good prices. I think that you will like it alot more than this place.
